International Federation of Wines and Spirits (FIVS)

The International Federation of Wines and Spirits (FIVS) is a global organization established in July 1951 dedicated to supporting the beer, wine, and spirits industry. Headquartered in Paris, France, FIVS operates as a non-governmental organization that unites producers, distributors, importers, exporters, and trade associations from across the globe. It serves as the principal forum for stakeholders throughout the alcohol international trade sector.

Goals of the Federation

  • Information Sharing: Collecting and distributing information of public interest to members, through educational materials, about topics such as regulatory requirements, climate change, strategies to gain access to market opportunities, or sustainable development.
  • Advocacy: Developing consensus positions to communicate to international organizations, governments, and intergovernmental bodies.
  • Collaboration: Partnering with prominent entities of the global alcohol beverage sector, including the Codex Alimentarius Commission, OIV, WIPO, WTO, WHO, and other world trade organizations and business associations, in order to build more democratical trade regulations.
  • Science and Tech: Addressing scientific and technical matters related to wine and viticulture.
  • Defending Members' Rights: Building consensus to safeguard members' rights under the European Union and international regulatory affairs.
  • Sustainability Focus: Examine timely issues to enhance the sustainable development of the sector while aligning with international regulatory frameworks, ensuring market access for an increasing number of producers.
  • Triple Bottom Line: Structuring initiatives around the "triple bottom line of sustainability"—integrating economic, social, and environmental considerations.
