Discover Terroir

The Colli Euganei Fior d’Arancio DOCG is a captivating wine region situated in the northeastern part of Italy, within the Veneto region. Nestled between the cities of Padua and Venice, this picturesque area graces the gentle slopes of the Colli Euganei, a range of volcanic hills that lend their name to the region.

The Colli Euganei Fior d’Arancio DOCG enjoys a mild and temperate climate, influenced by its proximity to the Adriatic Sea. The sea's moderating effect ensures that temperature extremes are kept in check, creating ideal conditions for grape cultivation. Summers are warm and sunny, allowing the grapes to ripen gradually, while winters are generally mild, safeguarding the vines from harsh cold. This climate bestows a lengthy growing season upon the vines, nurturing the development of complex flavors and aromas in the grapes.

The volcanic origins of the Colli Euganei hills have bestowed upon the region a rich diversity of soils. These soils are characterized by a mix of volcanic rock, clay, limestone, and sedimentary deposits. The combination of these elements contributes to the unique terroir of the area, providing a nurturing foundation for vine growth. In some areas, volcanic tuff —a porous rock created by volcanic activity— predominates, offering excellent drainage that encourages the vines to develop deep root systems. These roots delve into the soils, absorbing essential nutrients and minerals that infuse the grapes with character.

Discover

In the sun-kissed embrace of the Colli Euganei Fior d’Arancio DOCG, the Moscato Giallo grape variety reigns as the golden heartbeat that infuses the wines with enchantment and allure. With a history rooted in ancient viticulture, this grape has evolved into a symbol of the region's distinct identity and unwavering commitment to craftsmanship.

Moscato Giallo captivates the senses with its alluring aromas. The golden-hued clusters exude a captivating bouquet of floral notes, often reminiscent of orange blossoms and petals carried on a gentle breeze. These delicate scents intermingle with hints of ripe apricots, citrus zest, and a touch of honey, creating an olfactory symphony that transports one to the sun-drenched hills of Colli Euganei.

As the Moscato Giallo grapes ripen under the Italian sun, they develop a luscious flavor profile that tantalizes the palate. Sweet and sensuous, the grapes impart notes of juicy stone fruits, including succulent peaches and nectarines. A unique touch of spiciness adds depth and complexity, inviting exploration and contemplation with every sip.

The Moscato Giallo grape finds its ultimate expression in the Fior d’Arancio wines of Colli Euganei. Whether as a delicately sweet Bianco dolce, a vivacious Spumante, or an indulgent Passito, Moscato Giallo is the star that graces the glass. Its harmonious balance of sweetness and acidity creates wines that dance on the palate, leaving a lasting impression of elegance and finesse.

The Colli Euganei Fior d’Arancio DOCG has charmed the world with its exceptional expressions of Moscato Giallo, a grape variety renowned for its captivating aromatics and luscious flavors. Within this enchanting region, three distinct styles—Bianco, Spumante, and Passito—unveil the diversity and richness of the terroir, each sip weaving a tale of passion and craftsmanship.

On the one hand, the Bianco wine made in this DOCG is composed almost entirely (95%) of the versatile Moscato Giallo variety, which thrives in this region. For that reason, this wine has a great aromatic intensity, with very elegant floral notes, while in the mouth it has an explosive fruity flavor, and notes that will remind you of citrus fruits.

On the other hand, the Spumante wines made under the DOCG Colli Euganei Fior d'Arancio combine elegance with incredible bubbles that will dance in your mouth. This wine, which must be made with a minimum of 95% Moscato Giallo, is a clear example of the quality fine wines that can be found in this region. On the nose, you will feel elegant and subtle floral notes, while on the palate you will find sweet notes that may remind you of delicious citrus fruits, apricots or even honey.

Finally, Passito wine is a real hidden gem in the DOCG Colli Euganei Fior d'Arancio. This elixir is characterized mainly by the high amount of sugars that are concentrated in the grapes that make up the wine (minimum 95% Moscato Giallo) due to the drying process, usually in the vineyard, through which they pass. But this wine not only stands out for its incredible and intense sweetness: it also has a 15.5% alcohol content. The combination of all the production factors, added to the fact that it must be aged in barrels for at least one year, results in a delicious wine that combines notes of dried fruits with hints of honey, which will surprise you and leave you eager for another sip.
