Consorzio di Tutela Vino Fara DOC

Consorzio di Tutela Vino Fara DOC

Founded in July 2002, the Consorzio di Tutela Faro DOC was the collective vision of eight pioneering producers dedicated to safeguarding and promoting the historic legacy of the Fara DOC. Today, the Consortium has flourished, embracing 18 member companies united in their mission. Their primary objective is clear: to nurture, enhance, and amplify the global recognition of Faro DOC, a testament to Sicily's rich viticultural tradition.

Diving into the roots of Fara DOC, this designation, established as early as 1976, was among Sicily's trailblazing wine classifications. Unique among Italian DOCs, the Faro DOC stands out with its intricate blend of three to six native vines, each with its own tale, all grown in the evocative backdrop of Messina.

The landscape plays a crucial role in the wine's character. Messina's gentle mountain slopes, the caress of the nearby sea, the diverse soil from calcareous to sandy, and the ever-present wind—sometimes fervent, often gentle—craft a wine profile distinctively Sicilian. Further enriching this terroir is the Mediterranean underbrush, infusing the wines with an organoleptic richness that's truly unique.

The wines of Faro DOC echo tales of two production facets—the Ionian and the Tyrrhenian. Each narrative captures the multifaceted expressions of a region celebrated for its exceptional viticulture.

In essence, while the Faro DOC wines narrate Sicily's storied wine lineage, the Consorzio di Tutela Faro DOC serves as its protector and advocate. Through their endeavors, they passionately convey their commitment: "We take care of, promote, and enhance our territory."
