The Rosso Orvietano DOC is located in Umbria. It covers 20 hectares of vineyards in the municipalities of Allerona, Alviano, Baschi, Castel Giorgio, Castel Viscardo, Fabro, Ficulle, Guardea, Montecchio, Montegabbione, Monteleone d'Orvieto, Orvieto, Porano and San Venanzo, in the province of Terni.

Winters in this DOC are cold and rainy, with an average temperature between 5.5°C and 6.7°C in the coolest months, which are January and December. On the other hand, summers are dry, hot and sunny, with the warmest months being July, with average temperatures between 23.7°C and 23.8°C, and August, with an average of 23.7°C and 24.1°C.

The soil is of volcanic origin, with a predominance of tuff, limestone and volcanic rocks.
