The Lambrusco di Sorbara DOC, located in the Emilia-Romagna wine region, covers the wines produced in the north of the Modena region, between the Secchia and Panaro rivers. Sorbara DOC is encircled by illustrious wine-producing areas. To the south, the Lambrusco Grasparossa di Castelvetro DOC offers robust, deeply colored wines, contrasting with Sorbara's lighter and more aromatic profile. Encompassing Sorbara from various directions is the Lambrusco di Modena DOC, a versatile region producing a spectrum of Lambrusco wines, from dry to sweet. Meanwhile, to the west, Lambrusco Salamino di Santa Croce DOC is noted for its harmoniously balanced wines, blending fruitiness with a refreshing acidity. Together, these regions form a rich tapestry of Lambrusco wine production, with Sorbara DOC at its center, celebrated for its delicately structured and subtly flavored wines.

The climate of the region is markedly continental. Summers are hot, while winters tend to be cold. In addition, the vineyards receive winds from the south, but they arrive without humidity. For this reason, rainfall is scarce in winter and summer, while vineyards usually receive the most precipitation in spring and autumn.

Alluvial and sandy soils predominate in this DOC. Part of these soils were generated by ancient fluvial deposits hundreds of years ago.
